It seems that I’m not the only one who can whip up a birthday cake around here! In fact, I have to admit that I probably did get my cake-making skills and enthusiasm from somewhere… my mother. I even have years worth of photos of painstakingly-iced children’s cakes from when I was younger… I think they may need digging up at some point!
But for now, it’s my turn to be on the receiving end of some cake… and my mum has put together this cute little French-inspired ‘table’ of cakes to cheer up this gloomy time of year during which my birthday falls!
I love the mini-battenburgs (made from icing) – amazing how someone can go from computer-whiz to cake-maker in 5 minutes! Just goes to show that when technology/work/life gets too much, it’s time to make cake.
I’m a big fan of the little ice-bucket and champagne candle bit too! It feels like a very grown-up cake, I have to say.
So for now, all I’m missing are some friends to eat it with! And so begins the Christmas holiday over-eating marathon of amazing food… 🙂
