Now have I got a treat for you or what?!! Without the constraints of organisational issues for the Good Food Society Bake-Off (we have handed over to a new exec team), I decided that I have been in need of a really good excuse to do some crazy baking for a while. And ‘Bakerella’ – one of my new favourite people at the moment – gave me that excuse. She invented the idea of “Cake Pops” and … well… what she comes up with is incredible! I’m good with chocolate, but she is just so inventive and talented. If anyone buys me her book, they will get cake pops in return.
Here’s what I started out with to decorate them (namely the contents of a “Barbie fun sprinkles” set – surprisingly useful!):

After cycling to Hobbycraft and back (ahh I’m going to miss living so close to this place!!) and managing to resist buying scrapbooking materials, I got to work on my owl family. Rather large – owl family. I painted all the pupils onto the eyes individually with black food colouring (& a cocktail stick) – it was the most fun I’ve had in a while! But then, I’ve been revising the French Revolution so I may not be in a good place to judge… Instead I’ll give you the pictures and see if you like them! They have all come out with individual little personalities too. Feel free to name them. 😛

And I had this fantastic idea of how to present them… in teacups! (Sidenote: isn’t floral oasis the most COOL thing ever to cut up & squidge around? It’s therapeutic!)

There were even a couple of little baby owls!

In the middle here you can see Seb’s owl, who has little hearts for eyes:

And finally, one of my personal favourites, this is the Picasso-owl….

Next time I want to make penguins, with dark chocolate and little white chocolate bellies, with chocolate buttons for wings !!
What would you make? 🙂
