I’ve been so excited to share this project! It started out on the run-up to my French party as an idea to turn an old stripy t-shirt into a little coat for Truffle the Doglet. Originally I was planning to simply stick some velcro onto one of the sleeves and wrap it around her neck to attach it to the other side. However, as the project developed, it became a little more industrious.
I thought – well why not cut the bottom of the shirt into a rounded shape, so that it looks a better fit for a little dog?
And then, well, I might as well do it inside-out and turn it around so that it looks neat and more professional. Just make sure that you turn the arms onto the right side, you don’t want to sew them onto the inside by mistake. That would just be silly. I would never do that. Ahem.
Seb had the idea to turn one of the sleeves back over the t-shirt to make a little pocket, which has the dual function of meaning she can carry little things, and covering up the velcro where the other sleeve attaches around the neck.
Mind you, Truffle doesn’t object at all to wearing silly outfits. In fact, probably because she associates it partly with treats and partly extra fuss and attention, she becomes extra-excited when you put it on, posing contentedly for the camera (which also means treats and praise!). Some people at the party even thought that we had bought this outfit for Truffle, at which I was very flattered!
