Instead, I decided to keep with the dragon theme (Chloe likes dragons!) when I found this lovely illustration made into a postcard which I bought as a card.
I love the image of the dragon picking a fairy cake! I had this idea that I could make some biscuits that used my ‘edible gold’ decorations, so that you could give the biscuits to dragons in exchange for them not eating you if the circumstances arose (since dragons LOVE gold. However, only certain breeds of dragon would fall for this edible gold trick).
Chloe is also a fan of foods where the flavour comes through strongly, so I had an idea that I would do something with my lovely rose essence. I had a flick through ‘The Cookie & Biscuit Bible’ and landed upon a recipe for Jammie Dodgers. I wondered if I could re-invent them to be a little more personal…
So this recipe is for Chocolate and Rose ‘Dodgers’ really, a winning combination! It’s very simple – a sweet biscuit dough filled with two types of buttercream, one flavoured with rose and one with cocoa powder (Green & Blacks of course!). The heart cutter I used was the smallest we had, but at least it meant that the biscuits were light and moreish! They went down very well at the party at tea time.
It’s just fun putting your own twist on something too! You could combine so many different things with this jammy dodger variation – perhaps something which has a layer of marmelade on top? Or a layer of stewed apple even might work!
