I thought I’d share some pictures from our very exciting day of foraging! My mum & I went to Oxford to look for furniture for our new house, but instead spent most of the time in the car park picking blackberries in high excitement (the ones near our house are nowhere near ripe). We found these cute cups on special offer outside a party shop and decided they would be perfect for blackberry picking, aren’t they cute?!
The other hilarious moment from today was in Sainsbury’s when we were looking for jam sugar. The sugar with added pectin shelf was completely empty, so I asked an assistant whether they had any more, or whether they had any liquid pectin sachets. He looked astonished, which I thought was odd since he was definitely wearing a Sainsbury’s uniform. “I work outside” he told me, “but I’ll find someone who can help”… When my mum came back to the aisle and found me, I had seven – no word of a lie – seven shop assistants, including assistant manager, having a conference about jam-making! And unfortunately our plight ended empty-handed. Waitrose however, did not fail us!
I want to make some delicious delicate tarts with blackberry & elderberry (mum is using hers to make jam of course!) but was dismayed this evening to find that the store do not stock creme fraiche. No matter, I have used one pot of blackberries & elderberries for white chocolate mousse. Which is in the fridge. Setting. Oh, the wait. It’s the hardest bit! So you’ll have to wait too. 🙂
