Coastal Mirror, in progressDress patterns

Above you can see a couple of projects that I’m working on. I’m really excited about the house I’ll be moving into in a couple of weeks, as I may have mentioned, and my bedroom’s ‘coastal’ theme has turned into wealth of inspiration for hand-made items. I adore themes. And therefore should have known I’d get carried away. Soon, I’ll be only eating seafood too!The top image is going to be a mirror, well, it actually was one before, and I have removed the glass, repainted the frame and am in the process of making little stitched seagulls to stick around the edge. I’m thinking of having a quote somewhere on it from Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

Today has been one of those days where you do a bit here and there, getting a little further in different directions, but completing nothing. Part of the reason is that I fell out with my sewing machine, and am now without a free-stitching foot. So the seagull mirror progress has been halted for a while. To my irritation. But there’s a website I should be working on. Does anyone else ever find that they’re most inspired when they have lots else to be getting on with? Well, I have decided that I am just going to give myself permission to DO things when I’m inspired as if you save them for later you never get around to them. Because you haven’t got the same flash of excitement any more. The rest… it will still get done.

“The only true law is that which leads to freedom,” Jonathan said. “There is no other.”
