Seaside bedroom
Packing, packing, packing… the odd feeling of cleaning the house with my friends despite only feeling like it was yesterday when we moved in… packing up my lovely little room… packing for Rome… waking up at 5am and unable to get back to sleep… Holidays are exciting, although nerve-racking and strange-feeling sometimes too.

So just before I go to Rome I thought I’d leave you with a little tour of my bedroom. It had a theme of course, which I spent half of last summer thinking about – so although I’m sad to pack it all up, it’s also quite exciting that the next year might be bringing me not just one, but two more bedrooms to decorate (a new family house, and a flat in France!).

The theme was the sea-side. I didn’t spend a lot of money, but I was so pleased with my end results… I painted an old mirror I had and decorated it with seagulls which I managed to sew with a free-stitching foot using fabric onto cardboard.

I collected this vintage framed shell illustration from a ‘posh’ car boot sale at Lodge Park before I left…

I also bought a couple of little cheap stripy rugs from ikea, a lovely blue striped duvet set from Amazon for about £12, and these little fish-hooks for less than a fiver! I do get a little carried away when a theme is involved…

Over time I collected a bit of fabric, and found that I had some random objects that fitted in too. I really like this anchor fabric, though don’t yet have a particular use for it – I was thinking of making one of those ribboned, padded noticeboards, but haven’t got around to it yet!

Ahh well, I’m not too sorry that I woke up early now. Just got to stay calm for the coach & plane-catching, checking in bags etc. that makes holidays a bit scary! At least when I get back I’m packed and ready to go home…
Ciao for now ! 🙂
Packed and ready to go!
